roy wilkins
Born in Greenwich, Southeast London, Roy B Wilkins settled in Melbourne in 1999 and began his journey as a largely self-taught painter. Roy experiments with materials like acrylics, ink, collage, and spray paint, creating intricate patterns and textures through layered applications. His work is inspired by emotional reactions to repetitive electronic music, often featuring tribal masks and abstract iconography.
Influenced by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Albert Tucker, Roy describes his style as spontaneous abstract expressionism. Since 2002, he has exhibited widely in Melbourne, earning several awards and a place in private collections across Australia, Spain, Portugal, and England.
