Artist Statement: Pangerang Lookout is an abstract interpretation of the surrounding bushland within Warby-Ovens National Park near Wangaratta. Vibrant greens capture the energy and vitality of the landscape, while bold black lines represent the fence lines that intersect and contain the natural world. The work reflects both the beauty and the tensions between land and boundaries. The title acknowledges the cultural significance of the site, named for the Pangerang People, one of the early Aboriginal groups of the region. This painting seeks to honour the layered histories of the land while celebrating its enduring spirit and presence.
