Born in India and trained in Textile Design in New Delhi, Ruchi Rai developed a strong foundation in colour, fabric and fluid movement through hand-painting silk and chiffon.

After travelling widely, she settled in Australia in 1994, where coastal light and landscape inform her work. Using acrylic washes and ink, she paints intuitively, embracing spontaneity and softness.

Painting full time, Ruchi creates atmospheric abstractions balancing gentle neutrals with vibrant colour.
